Fictional Reality Prints

Fictional Reality Variants presents Prough’s version of California Beach culture through digitally painted, iconic (and often subversive) toys. The artworks are 16 x 16 inches each, printed on hand-painted wood veneer. These items are sold individually and come as either unframed and unmounted prints, perfect for finishing to your space’s design or as float mounted prints in the artist’s original design.

“The places, people and experiences are real, but what interests me are the stories,” explains the artist. “I photograph various props, dolls and cars in real locations to make a rough photo composite. From the composite, I digitally paint the photographed scene. I enjoy printing on wood veneers to enhance the fictionalized moment and its sunny, beach-day color palette.”

Justin Prough is a Los Angeles based artist whose work reflects the struggle between sunny days, good waves and the environmental & political unrest of our times. Prough’s work has been exhibited in California and in private collections across the U.S.
