23038 PCH presents Prough’s version of California Beach culture through digitally painted, iconic (and often subversive) toys. The artwork is 36 x 26 inches, printed on hand-painted wood veneer. The finished veneer is mounted to a varnished float frame that is ready-to-hang.

“The places, people and experiences are real, but what interests me are the stories,” explains the artist. “I photograph various props, dolls and cars in real locations to make a rough photo composite. From the composite, I digitally paint the photographed scene. I enjoy printing on wood veneers to enhance the fictionalized moment and its sunny, beach-day color palette.”

Justin Prough is a Los Angeles based artist whose work reflects the struggle between sunny days, good waves and the environmental & political unrest of our times. Prough’s work has been exhibited in California and in private collections across the U.S.
