Ikkaku & the Sky Dragons—on Community & the Collective
Join us for a free adventure through story and meaning as storyteller, teacher, and Artlounge Collective founder K Ryan Henisey expands on the legend of Ikkaku and the Sky Dragons. Using mythology and fairytales as a springboard, we explore the meaning of stories as they relate to creative life. In the Japanese Legend of Ikkaku, the titular character defeats the dragons with unexpected consequences. Gathering together, the villagers and their leaders find a solution to free the dragons and save the world. Artists and creatives make their own mythic journeys through life, paralleling Ikkaku and the people of Japan. In this session, explore the importance of finding your artist community and celebrating the power of the collective.
Art & Archetypes is four-part series on myths and meaning. Each session, recurring over the summer of 2023, uses Jungian Psychological Analysis to expand on the richness of stories and archetypes on the lives of creatives. K Ryan Henisey is an award-winning artist and founder of Artlounge Collective. He holds a Masters in English Literature with an emphasis on mythology and children’s literature.
Art & Archetypes continues with the following sessions through summer:
